Hey there! I’m Paul Thomas, a Solutions Architect with a passion for building scalable cloud infrastructure and making developers’ lives easier. Currently, I’m working with some of the biggest names in financial services, helping them modernize their development workflows and build more resilient systems.
What I Do
I specialize in designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud solutions, with a particular focus on AWS infrastructure. My sweet spot? Creating systems that not only work flawlessly but also make developers smile. Whether it’s setting up GitLab installations for thousands of developers or deploying HashiCorp Vault for secure secrets management across global enterprises, I love tackling complex technical challenges that make a real difference.
My Journey
My path in tech has been an exciting one, taking me from baggage check-in kiosks at airports to high-stakes financial systems. I’ve had the privilege of working with fascinating organizations like Mercedes Benz, where I helped transform their legacy inventory system into a modern cloud-native application, and the US Army, where I helped architect their new automated recruitment platforms.
What I’m Working On
These days, you’ll find me deep in the world of financial technology, where I’m helping major institutions modernize their development infrastructure. I’m particularly excited about:
- Building highly scalable, self-hosted GitLab solutions
- Implementing secure secrets management with HashiCorp Vault
- Automating cloud infrastructure with Terraform
- Optimizing CI/CD pipelines for deployments at enterprise-scale
Tech Stack
I work across a broad spectrum of technologies, but my current toolkit includes AWS (certified Solutions Architect), HashiCorp tools, GitLab, and various observability platforms like Datadog. I’m comfortable diving into TypeScript, Python, or C# codebases, and I enjoy working with modern frameworks like React and Svelte.
